Mother of the Eucharist and Grace: An Explanation of the Miraculous Rose Petals
An interview with Fr. Virgilio Bartolmoe, SVD
From Signs and Wonders Vol. 7 #4
Q. Tell me about Carmello, how old he is, how long he has been receiving messages from Our Blessed Mother, etc.?
A. I met Carmello at Christ the King Seminary Grotto of the Blessed Mother in Quezon City in the Philippines. He was very active in leading the Living Rosary with the young people. There was an old lady who used to take care of the Grotto, Lola Thelma, age 73 who was receiving messages from the Blessed Mother and I met her in Novemeber 1990. She was receiving rose petals with the images of the Blessed Mother and Jesus Christ. She was beaten up by a woman in the Grotto, by a crazy lady, and died two weeks later (December 31, 1990). Carmello was very concerned about her death and he was the only one who knew where she was buried. No one else cared about Lola.
Carmello was 21 years of age at that time, and lived in a squatter area in San Francisco Del Monte in Quezon City. During the first manifestation of the Blessed Mother on June 12, 1991, he was suffering with stomach trouble and went to the washroom where, at 3:00am, he heard the sound of strange music.
Carmello had a newborn baby girl at that time and was worried about where the music was coming from. He then followed the music which can only be described as very beautiful and something not of this world. He found out that it was emanating from a picture of the Blessed Mother and her child Jesus. Mother Mary was shedding tears of blood and the baby Jesus was trying to catch these tears. This picture of Mary was given to him by a certain attorney, Ramon Pedrosa. It was an image of Our Lady of Madras in India.
Carmello called Fr. Virgil at 6:00am at the place he was staying (Catholic Trade in Manilla). He called from the house of the sister. I went there very fast to find out if the image was fresh with blood of the Blessed Mother. I told him not to touch it, but to put it on the altar. We all said the rosary and the brother-in-law of Carmello, who was sick with fever at this time, immediately got well. Two days later, he was again awakened by beautiful music and the Blessed Virgin Mary spoke to him and gave him the following messages:
"Pray for the poor souls in purgatory" and the Blessed Mother gave him instructions on how to pray for the poor souls by putting a wooden cross on top of a white cloth and sprinkling it with holy water.
"Soon there will be a Filipina saint. She is a nun and a foundress of a religious order. When she is beatified and canonized, all the problems in the Philipines will slowly change and the country will be known as blessed and peaceful."
Carmello and those behind him believe that this nun is Mother Ignatia Del Spirito Santo, who the Blessed Mother was referring. The congregation of RVM had not yet found the grave or the place where she was buried and which they have been looking for the past 200 years. One of the RVM Sisters came to Fr. Bart and asked Carmello to help them locate the grave of the foundress and I allowed him to go with them. They went to Intramuras of Manilla and in less than one hours time they found the grave. The following morning, Fr. Bart went to bless this place. The whole place had been remodelled after the war (1945) and only that particular place had not been touched but surrounded by old galvanized iron. It was a place of heaps of stones and the underground cemetery had been filled with water and I can't explain how Carmello found this place.
There were two holes that belonged (88 and 90) to two nuns and the rest belonged to priests. Number 88 hole had the initial of MISDOS and we found some relics and remaining bones and gave them to the Sisters. Since Carmello was designated by the Blessed Mother to heal the sick, he has been using the relic of MISDOS and many have been healed. There is living proof of these healings, including a woman, Rosario Escudero, prominent owner of a beautiful resort known to many foreigners as "Villa Escudero" in Tiaong in Quezon Providence. This lady up until now had been suffering from the veins in her neck which coagulated and she was healed by the intercession of Mother Ignatia.
On August 14, 1991, I took Carmello to the Convent of the Consolatrix Sisters in Naguilian La Union. On the way, we passed Rosales Panasinan and we met Rowell Darang, who is also another visionary and we met him in a beautiful Grotto in that place of Rosales. Carmello and Rowell prayed over one another. Rowell is now in Staten Island, New York. On August 15, 1991, Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Mother, we went to the Convent of Consolatrix and made a five day retreat there. At 3:00am, on August 15, the Blessed Mother appeared to Carmello and she was very beautiful, between 15-18 years of age. She was dressed in white and her Immaculate Heart was exposed and on top of her heart was a rose and in the middle was the Eucharist and she was holding a rosary in her right hand and the scapular was in her left hand.
The Blessed Mother told him that the heart and Eucharist on her chest is a sign that it was from her that the Body and Blood of her son Jesus came from. She then identified herself as the Mother of the Eucharist and Grace. Carmello's sister, Puring, in November 1991, received a vision of Our Lady of the Eucharist and Grace. She is now in the healing ministry. The Blessed Mother asked them both to propagate the Devotion to the Mother of the Eucharist and Grace. Every Saturday, they go around with the image to different homes to pray the rosary and consecrate the family to the Blessed Mother. There have been many miracles and healings that have taken place as a result of this. Whenever Carmello or Puring are present, images of Our Lord and Our Lady appear on the rose petals. These rose petals have been examined and they cannot explain how this happens. The rose petals change to the appearance of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph with the Eucharist on top of the Holy Family. Mary is really the source of the Holy Eucharist.
